I am the owner of “Earth Yoga Home”, a small business in Athens, Greece. On 30 April 2026 I received a sophisticated phishing email pretending to be from Meta, claiming my business page had been approved for the Blue Verification Badge. The email directed me to a Google Form. Not being a cybersecurity expert, I completed it. Within hours, an attacker gained access to my account (Fani Mougiou), performed malicious actions, and caused the permanent deletion of my personal Facebook account. Meta now claims the deletion is “irreversible”. The attacker continues to control my verified Business Page “Earth Yoga Home”, posting irrelevant and damaging content that harms my professional reputation and business. I immediately reported the incident to the Greek Cyber Crime Division (Official Police Case No. 604437187). I have also filed formal complaints with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (ΑΠΔΠΧ - case No 6657), with EETT - the National Telecommunications and post commission (case No. 1684/11.5.26), noyb.eu, Coimisiún na Meán (Ireland), and the European ODR platform. I have sent Meta a formal legal notice demanding restoration of my account and page within 14 days, along with a Preservation Notice for all logs. Despite dozens of reports from third parties and clear evidence of criminal activity, Meta has taken zero meaningful action for over two weeks. This is not a simple “policy violation”. It is a serious failure by Meta to protect users and businesses from phishing attacks and account takeovers. Small businesses like mine depend on this platform — and Meta is simply not safeguarding us. I urge Meta to restore my account and page immediately and to improve their security and recovery procedures. Until then, I cannot recommend Facebook or Instagram to any business owner. All evidence (police report, phishing email, screenshots, legal notice) has been submitted to the relevant authorities.
