Bought a shotgun from them at the Norfolk Gun Show. I’ve liked going to the gun show because I like see what local and distant stores have to offer all at once. I’ve bought guns in the past at the show and from local dealers and have paid a fair or better price compared to big stores like Scheels. I was excited for the show as I wanted a shotgun and I found a lot but some just didn’t feel right or too expensive. I don’t think I saw another one at another table but what I bought from Double 9 was a Mossberg Maverick 88. I did some research a long time ago but the 88 looked familiar and I know Mossberg is a good brand so I pulled the trigger. Purchase process was normal and the guys were nice. Felt good about my purchase until I got out and finally had service. I wanted to look up some details as I only received the gun and barrel tag, no manual, no locks or anything, leading me to think it was used. I did notice beforehand there was some wear in the receiver, maybe some surface rust, then I cleaned it at home and wiped off tons of surface rust (or old lube because no one would pay the price). But I didn’t know the gun and thought the price was less than new since I seen other mossbergs from them that were higher. Well I found online that I could’ve bought it for 260 at Scheels… I bought the dirty shotgun for $374 with tax. The listed price was at least 340, I can’t remember. Not sure what to think of it but because Double 9 has the same thing listed on their own website for 266. I do know that it’ll probably be the last time I go to a show because i can just go into Norfolk gun stores or a big sports store and not be robbed.
