What was the problem? Why did you choose Cabela's over a gun shop? This comment just seems odd to me... What was wrong? Did they not make it right, did you contact a manager? I've never had a problem with Cabela's. Anytime i go in the store they are very knowledgeable and well trained. I know a lot of hunters who use their store and never had a problem.

So did you go hunting and still miss your target?

You do realize that even a good  scope doesn't guarantee you will hit your target....sometimes it's the operater.

I've had them mount 3 scopes on three guns no issue.  Bore sight was spot on...did the rest myself on the range...sounds like operator error...

I dont think that the lease them. There us such a demand when we have an ice storm there us too much demand not to sell them. You might want to consider buying one before we have an ice storm.

Repeated dry firing with most firearms isn't good. I'm not sure how many potential people would be handling one gun and doing so though. Still, I've seen guns look used just from being physically handled so much. Take for instance the Desert Eagle, everyone wants to hold one and look at it followed by dry firing it... If it were my gun, I wouldn't be ok with everyone who came to my house doing the same. As far as the gun safety thing, blame the other idiots in this world. One could easily open a box of ammo in the store, pocket some rounds and quickly load a revolver while looking at it. Personally, I'm ok with the locks. I just took my daughter there to buy her first Daisy rifle. I can't imagine what would have happened if some idiot came in there and did what I described... Just not worth the risk anymore. Still, if the item to be sold was dependent on the trigger action. I'd personally probably come up with a way to do it. Like in another room or something...

To be fair it's Cabela's and not a dedicated gun store. If I were to make a wild guess, they get a lot of people who have never held a gun ask to hold one and then do something stupid. It's not a public safety issue though, respectfully to Mr. Burke it's not indicative of a healthy mindset to justify the practices of a massive corporate retailer using your own intrusive thoughts of violence/self harm in a large public store.

And unless it's a rimfire or a super outdated breech design like what you find in a lever action carbine, you almost never have to worry about dry firing. It's a standard procedure for safety checking a wide variety of common firearms during the process of rendering them safe.
