First, it is perfectly normal to receive a "Delayed" status on a background check, so there is no need to be alarmed. This happens for a variety of reasons and is often resolved without any issue. A "Delayed" status simply means the Virginia State Police needs more time to research your record before making a final determination. The system will continue to check on your transaction, and in many cases, these delays are cleared up quickly.
