Old Town Pedal Drive Kayak Purchase – Mixed Start, Excellent Recovery I recently purchased an Old Town pedal drive kayak from Cabela’s. Unfortunately, the pickup process felt rushed, and once I got home, I noticed significant damage—large gouges and long scratches along the side of the kayak. After spending $3,200, this was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The next day, I returned to the store to express my concerns. I spoke with a manager (whose name I didn’t catch), and to his credit, he was very apologetic and immediately took action. He offered a partial refund to my card for the inconvenience and exchanged the damaged kayak for a brand-new one on the spot. That gesture went a long way in restoring my confidence in the store. Robert, a Cabela’s employee, assisted me with the exchange. He was professional, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. I’ve interacted with him before regarding kayak fishing setups, and once again, he went above and beyond—spending over an hour of his morning sharing advice and insights. His expertise and customer service are truly exceptional. If Cabela’s has an Employee of the Year award, Robert is more than deserving. Despite the rocky start, the customer service I received—especially from Robert—was outstanding. Cabela’s made things right, and I left feeling valued as a customer. Thank you to the team for turning a frustrating situation into a positive experience.
