Yup, shady pawn shop I'm my opinion. I went there to sell some Silver American Eagles and a 10oz bar of .999% pure silver. Because the price for silver hit a record high and unfortunately the place I usually go to is closed on Mondays. When I walked in I asked how much they were paying for Silver American Eagles and they wouldn't give me a straight answer. So I showed him the coins and the first thing out of his mouth was these coins were circulated and said look there is a scratch on this one. (When was the last time you saw a 2024 silver eagle in circulation) I said they were in BU condition which means Brilliant Uncirculated which means they are a mint state between MS-60 and MS-69 they are not a MS-70 which means flawless. These coins might have a scratch or a ding from falling into the mint bag. So rather than argue with him I asked how much would he give me for the 10oz bar? he was going to give me 40.00 dollars an ounce(silver at that time was at $64.00 an ounce) so for the 10oz bar thats 400.00 dollars. YIKES!! I left and went to a place in Fort Myers and the guy there gave me 580.00 for the same 10oz bar. I was happy with that price and kept my Eagles. Please shop around and don't settle on the first price given. There's a lot of good reputable shops in the area. BU often falls within the Mint State (MS) grades (like MS-60 to MS-69), indicating no wear but acknowledging minor imperfections that differentiate it from a flawless MS-70 coin.
