Overall I had a fairly good experience with Spectre. If I lived closer to them I would probably make some purchases there. The employees were professional and the store was well stocked. It was the only store I called in the Houston area that was willing to transfer a pistol to CA, so I ended up driving to them from Katy. I sold a pistol of mine to a friend in CA, so I had to transfer to a shop near him. Shipping and transfer prices were very fair. $75 all in all. Their prices overall were higher than you see online, retail will always be higher than online, but they didn't seem to be price gouging by any means. Now out of all that positive information, I can't give them a 5 star review. I keep a detailed record of my personal firearm purchases and sales. So when I went to ship the firearm I asked them for a transfer receipt of some form so I would have documentation that I no longer have the gun, the guy behind the counter looked at me like I had asked him for the holy grail and told me all they could do is have UPS send me tracking information when the gun actually shipped. If I knew of another store that would ship to CA I would have gone there, but I was kinda stuck so I ended up using them to ship anyway. The gun shipped a few days later because of the obscene process that california requires to send a gun into their state. So basically if you're looking to buy a firearm or accessory, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Spectre. But if you're looking to sell or ship a firearm, and want some kind of documentation saying you no longer own the gun (Which is ALWAYS a good idea) I wouldn't go to Spectre.

I went to Spectre Firearms to have some gunsmith work done on my AR-15. I needed to have a YHM free float rail put on. I knew how to do it, but simply didn't have the tools to do it. So after reading reviews on here, I went to Spectre expecting great results. What I got was a mix of good and bad. The work that was done was sub par. The finish on my upper was messed up in a bad way. He used a torch to remove the thread locker in the barrel nut. In the process he turned about an inch of my upper all the way around bronze. It looked bad. He also forgot to thread lock the end cap. I called to speak to the manager the next to discuss the problem. Chad was the nicest person I've ever talked to. He apologized and said we will make this right. He offered me a full refund and a brand new upper! He said I can bring it in and they will install the new upper for free. People make mistakes, it's as simple as that. The gunsmith had an off day and made a mistake, but Spectre and Chad took care of me and demonstrated that they really care about their customers. This place is great.
