I purchased a 6.5 ar10 upper from Stix n stones , when I had called them they told me that upper was a tac fire upper , never hearing of it I googled it when I was on my job site , I could not find one in existence didn’t know any better , I was headed to North Carolina on a pig hunt I originally ordered a aero precision upper that was in stock on the web directly from aero , getting closer to my leave date I called aero precision and they told me my upper was still in production, I had them cancel my order a buddy of mine told me to call stocks n stones they had an upper again the “tac fire” I didn’t like the fact that it was side charging so I had them change the receiver out for me they were very reasonable on price to change out the parts I wanted put in the gun , however I reload and I’ve reloaded for 20 plus years I made data for a 6.5 ruger precision rifle was happy with a load that produced 3/4” groups at 100 yards , yes I know every rifle shoots differently and gas to bolt gun yes I have all that data , I worked up a load straight out of the Hornady book for a gas gun test fired 75ish rounds best group this upper would shoot is 2” at 100 yards and I mean absolute best group most were 12” groups I always ladder test .3 grns of powder at a time if that doesn’t work I’ll go back and do a ladder of .1 this gets costly ! I did it anyway couldn’t make that upper shoot so I called them let them know it won’t group I had to order an aero precision upper last minute from a retailer of aero precision, I ran the exact same data through that upper 1 time settled on a .5” group at 100 yards , I tell sticks n stones this first thing they say oh must be your reloads ha I wish kids I have more ammo than they do in that store all reloads I’ve done , so I take the 1.5 hour drive to give the gunsmith the upper back and this is when I learn they actually sold me a bear creek upper that I could have shipped to my door with a bcg for 250 , fun fact is sticks and stones charged me 899 for that upper before the work was done to it I walked out the door paying 1700 I believe after all the up charges for extra parts now we are talking an upper not a complete gun here ! I didn’t Evan ask for a refund I asked for store credit , if you ask me that’s being very nice considering I drove up there 3 times at 1.5 hours one way over this pos upper, so I drop this thing off for the gunsmith to look at I said my concerns are it’s over gassed slamming brass so hard it dents the case , the bcg puts gouges down the brass and it’s very inaccurate! So fast forward gunsmith has looked it over they had someone test fire it with no scope at 50 yards on steel they had balls enough to tell me this is exactly what they did and the rifle is accurate with no scope , I don’t know about you boys but 12x12 steel with an ole smooth bore shotgun no bead I can get lucky too at 50 yards , they didn’t put in the effort the product was advertised incorrectly over the phone to me and yet after all this I figured they would make it kinda right and just give me store credit and they could deal with bear creek , but I see why they wouldn’t the upper was a complete ripoff from the git ! And I still bought an ar15 lower 2 times ago in the store while dealing with this mess , I buy lots and lots of guns bullets powder primers every year , this is my first negative review on any company since I could hold a gun ! And to top it off the owner was only ever contacted by employees I saw him at the purchase of this upper and never again nor was I able to talk to him , employees always said I’ll call and get back to you , garbage gunshop and it’s sad to me they do have a nice selection and I’ll never spend another penny with them , take your business to burkes gunshop in pa family owned and a veteran support the people that actually care !
