The rifle accepts standard pattern AK-47 magazines and has a reciprocating charging handle on the left side. The milled steel receiver and use of modern polymers contribute to weight reduction, making the rifle lighter and more comfortable to handle. The Gen II upgrades include a full-length rail, M-LOK hand guard, updated trigger profile, and shortened safety profile and throw.

The overall length of the rifle is 36" when collapsed and 39.25" when extended. It weighs 8 lbs 12.6 oz without the magazine. The Galil Ace Gen II is optics ready and comes in a sleek matte black finish.
